unidentified ancient token

    Have you seen anything like this? Do you know of reference? I have had it for years and now think it is time to ask.

    12-11 mm. 0.78 grams.
    I got it when a dealer retired and sold me a number of junk-box coins. Some were from Syria, if that helps. Other than that, I have no provenance.

    I really don't know. I do not recognize the coin/token. If I had to speculate I would say early (6th-7th Century) Byzantine (cross), two nummi (two dots), from the Levant (cedar branch).

    I don't recall seeing anything like it but it is distinctive enough that I'll remember it going forward just in case I stumble upon something similar :).
