I placed some high bids in next CNG feature actions which amounts to 4000$ and all of sudden yesterday I found my car transmission broke down. I took it to dealership and they put a bill of 35000$ to fix it . This would drain all my saving and not sure how can I afford the coins I already placed my bids on? Did anyone ever had face this situation before where you count on a money to spend on coins and all of sudden some urgent unexpected cost popped up and you don't know how to back out?

Knowing CNG feature auctions and how absurdly hot the market is right now, I would say there’s about a 0.01% chance any prebids actually end up winning, so I wouldn’t worry too much. Sorry to hear about the bad luck.

Call CNG first thing in the morning and explain the situation - they might allow you to remove your bids.

@AncientJoe Still speculating whether or not to call them , because I am a good customer and did not want to lose my credibility in front of them! I hate the unexpected costs that just ruin all calculations

I hope you mistakenly added an extra zero! You could buy another car for that amount.

I wish it was an extra 0 too but sadly the number is correct. No I have a 2015 Porsche . You are right I could buy a brand new car but buying a new Porsche would cost me much higher than 35000 to fix my current car so I am considering to pay it and have it fixed. They told me they need replace the whole transmission and it is expensive part need to be shipped from Germany and also the cost of labour to change the part is high

yea I almost got heart attack when the service guy in dealership send me the quote for fix! It ruin all my plans for new coin purchases. Now I am even thinking to get a loan from bank to buy the coins I am planning to get (although my wife doesn't know it )

I'm sure we all have done something like this in our lifetimes. If you will not be able to pay for the coins, you need to call them and be honest of your situation.
I hate to even say this but put the car repair on a credit card if possible. That's against my own rules. I won't charge anything I can't pay off the first month.

    EDIT
Wow 35K. Ignore my post above.

Yes I know what you mean! I am like you as well. I hate have something on my CC where it going to take long time to pay it off! Having 35000 on my CC means I should just pay 300 or so a month just interest! So I am thinking just pay the car with my savings and instead borrow 5K from bank for coins I am planning to buy as line of credit and that way pay off wont be as painful and as high interest

You could always apply for a new credit card with a 0% introductory interest rate. Just make sure to pay it all off before the intro period expires...

GET A SECOND OPINION FROM ANOTHER PORCHE DEALER, even from another town!
    Even a third opinion!
In my humble opinion, you are being ripped-off!
Don’t be afraid of losing CNG’s friendship. They are good folks, plain folks, like you and I.
And they want to retain good customers

Pete! I asked a non-Porsche dealer mechanic and he offered to fix the transmission for 10k but he mentioned it is just a temporary fix and might give me more cost down the road but changing it to a brand new one would last many more years. So I am thinking in long term I might save if I just replace it with brand new part

Does your wife know that it's going to cost $35,000 to repair your Porsche? What kind of car does she drive?

Taking out a bank loan to buy coins on top of that because you don't want CNG to think less of you in the future? I'm afraid you're hopelessly addicted!

I have been very happy not owning a car at all since I moved back to Manhattan in 2010, after a couple of decades in the suburbs.

Donna, I had to tell her about car cost but if she knows I am planning to get a loan for coin purchase that won't go well with her and I might end up sleeping in the park for few days so I prefer keep that secret to myself. And Yes I feel I am being a bit addicted but hey I am sure many on here share the same addiction on coins ;)

As for not owning a car, you did a good decision if you don't really need it you should not have it. I have it because I hate take public transit and I need to travel downtown for work (although I am working at home since last year) but still after my office opens I would need it to travel again

@mightyknighty respecfully, get another PORCHE dealer’s quote for a new transmission.
