I have a 1998D and 2004 D Lincoln cent that both seem to be a little uneven. Is this possible from the mint or would that have to be post-mint damage. Other than being dirty they don't appear 'damaged'. In fact the 1998 D has some nice feature detail still and mint luster.

I know a coin in hand is better, but I don't know how to show the slight difference in one part of the coin vs. the other with a scanner.
I just want to know if it's even something I should even think about or if it's something that happens quite commonly.

I'm not sure what you mean by "uneven". If you mean the thickness of the coin varies when you are looking at the rim, then that is normal If you mean weakly struck on one side (both obverse and reverse) and unusually strongly struck on the opposite side (obverse and reverse) then it is possible that the dies are tilted in rlation to each other.

I am referring to the thickness of the coin(s).
