Hello CT, I don't often post new threads but came across what I believe is a uncut sheet of 1988 $1 bills. Thirty-two in all of course consecutive serial numbers they are uncirculated and were given to me by my dad before he passed. Was wondering is this some out of the ordinary and are they just worth face value? thanks Jerry
Are you sure they are consecutively numbered??, uncut sheets won't contain consecutively numbered notes. http://www.uspapermoney.info/general/number.html
Gatzdon you are correct once I took a look at these I realizes they are not consecutive. They have serial numbrs like D99990698B but none are consecutive. My mistake. They are 1988 A series. Any guess about value? If you need any more info regarding these bills let me know. Not really a bill collector but found them in the back of my safe where I stuck them years ago.
Look close, the more 9's in a row the more potential for greater increase in value. Images would help alot! RickieB
Check to see if they are Web-notes. That could pump up the value of the sheet exponentially. I dont think i have ever seen webnote sheets for sale anywhere, but i suppose its possible they did sell them.
Condition would affect value. Have they been stored in a tube?, a frame?, exposed to sunlight?, is there any creases on the sheet?, are the corners perfectly square, or rounded/curled?, etc..... I don't know the value of these notes, but I'm just listing info to have when asking others for an approximate value. PS. and yes, uncut sheets of web notes would be through the roof pricewise, but I'm not sure the webnote process was conducive to getting "uncut" sheets
The most 9's I found in a row were 4. The sheet has a slight crease on one edge and the were at one time rolled up in a tube as that is the shape they go back to instead of flat. Will try and scan into computer as my picture taking ability is bad. ( just one of those things Iam not great at). they are uncirculated and never been exposed to any light or chemicals they have no wrinkles or tears. The crease is on the edge of the bill not the bill itself
See the attached picture. Does the circled area on your note contain a letter and number or just number? What is the first letter in your serial number? Definitely worth more than face unless there is some real damage. Crease would impact cost depending on location and severity.
The 1988A $1 D..B isn't a sheet-only block, and the printage of sheets in this block doesn't seem particularly low, so I'm thinking this is a run-of-the-mill twenty-year-old sheet. I don't really keep up with the sheets much, but I'm under the impression that most of the unremarkable ones tend to sell for relatively small advances above the price of the current-series sheets (which are now $55 postpaid from the BEP). There are no web sheets, I'm afraid....
Hope this works. number just to the left is 626 and the begining letter start with anything from a A to a H...thanks
