Hello Cointalk, I have recently acquired a $1 note in change and wondered if the serial number is uncommon because it has four 1's in a row. The number is E44711119B, series 2009. I don't think pictures are necessary.
Sorry. Most bills that are collectable based on serial number are repeaters 13131313, radar 13566531, ladders 12345678, lucky 7 or for oriental cultures 8's must start with at LEAST 3 sevens or eights and the more the better, low serials 0000034, high serials 99998889 binary's (true binaries) 01010101 or 10101010 as long as there are two numbers repeating most consider these binaries also. That's what I can think of off the top of my head. The series is also too new for there to be any information about rare block runs. Meaning if only a million or less of all the 2009's came from block EB that could make a difference but with them in print you won't know right now. Given the uncontrollable printing of money in the last few years I highly doubt that any blocks are going to be low runs.
Overall, post #2 is fantastic and is worthy of a "Like" until you get to the last sentence: "Given the uncontrollable printing of money in the last few years I highly doubt that any blocks are going to be low runs." For starters, the printing of currency (especially $1 bills) has been in decline due to improved screening methods at FRB centers around the country. In the past, for example, notes that were upside down or simply folded would get destroyed but due to upgrades in the scanning machinery this no longer occurs. This has resulted in less notes being destroyed which has in turn led to a lower demand for new notes to be printed. Whenever you hear politicians (or whomever) in the United States say the government is printing money and adding to the money supply are just using such speech as a metaphor. What they are referring to (if they even realize it) is electronic money supply and electronically held debt which has nothing to do with actual, physical currency.
nothing super special with the serial. it is only a dollar though. i would hold onto it if it was uncirculated
