Part of my neverending quest for affordable architecture coinage drove me to bid and win this Gallienus Mysia Parium AE 26, especially attracted to it as never seen this particular type in any sales anywhere. Although all types are very scarce
the usual type we mostly see is the triumphal arch with a Nike or Victory standing either side of a quadriga of elephants crowning them on top of the triumphal arch. This type has a number of differences the main one being two statues standing on columns below the top of the arch and two elephant heads both sides of a platform with a person holding a spear, not easy to see on my coin but luckily there was a pic of my reverse in Price and Trell fig. 213, a lot easier to see below...... IMG20171126113224 (1).jpg Another difference is the bust portraiture, usually depicted with a cartoonish Gallienus, my type has a more elegant stately look, unfortunately the obverse not shown in P&T Coins and their cities. Nice addition to your architectural collection, AA. These from Parium really aren't easy to come by, and I haven't seen this variety at all. I had one of the other type you mentioned, but recently parted with it.
