Hello everyone, today I received the following interesting coin. I never saw that reverse type before so when I saw it for sale I had to have it. Its seems to be an early issue of Emperor Diocletian from the Lugdunum mint featuring Diocletians favorite god on the reverse: Jupiter/ Iove. Emperor Diocletian - Aurelianus/Antoninianus - IOVI AVGG - Lugdunum mint Looking around for more examples I dont see to many other on the internet but there are some variations on wildwinds.com of which those seem to be the close to mine: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/diocletian/RIC_0033.jpg http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/diocletian/RIC_0034_rd.jpg Have you seen this type before and maybe own an example yourself? It seems to be a Lugdunum only type so feel free to post other specialties from Lugdunum you got in your collection as well

You can get these IOVI coins for all the members of the Tetrarchy, though I do not have a Galerius. Maximianus A.D. 293- 294 20x22mm 4.0gm IMP MAXIMIANVS AVG; Radiate and cuirassed bust right.
