    Hello everyone,
today I received the following interesting coin. I never saw that reverse type before so when I saw it for sale I had to have it. Its seems to be an early issue of Emperor Diocletian from the Lugdunum mint featuring Diocletians favorite god on the reverse: Jupiter/ Iove.

Looking around for more examples I dont see to many other on the internet but there are some variations on wildwinds.com of which those seem to be the close to mine:

Have you seen this type before and maybe own an example yourself? It seems to be a Lugdunum only type so feel free to post other specialties from Lugdunum you got in your collection as well :)

Nice coin @wittwolf . I just recently posted my IOVI ant of Diocletian so I’ll post this Lugdunum Follis instead.

You can get these IOVI coins for all the members of the Tetrarchy, though I do not have a Galerius.

RIC incorrectly describes the reverse as having an eagle at the foot of Jupiter

    In ex. I
    cf. RIC V Lugdunum 629

RIC only lists this issue with the longer obverse legend of FL VAL CONSTANTIVS (RIC 629). It is not in Bastien either.
