Prize - Roll of pre 1959 pennies and a magnifier The winner - Who ever gets the most likes - ends at 8PM Central 6/14 One of my earlier collecting memories is of my Uncle Bill giving me or trading with me wheaties he found in his change. I have been going through a box I have not seen in decades and put together 50 pennies. Not in good shape but good for someone who is just starting and has nothing. I am curious, who woul dyou give this prize to if you won? Let me know. SWL
I had an Uncle Bill who was my Godfather and would marvelously indulge me on my birthday. I never traded cents with him, but his good sense always fulfilled me. If I won such a prize I would donate it to a deserving YN..........
I would probably bring it to my coin club. There aren't many members so each person could get a few Wheaties to start out/ strengthen their collection./ I know we'd all have fun looking through them.
I had an uncle Bill. He was loaded, but stingy. Every year, on their birthdays, he gave all of his nieces and nephews a card containing a dollar for every year of their life. One dollar on their first birthday, two dollars on their second, etc. The 17th birthday was the last one that any of us received gifts from Uncle Bill, and those were the only gifts we ever received from him. He gave no other gifts. Not for christenings, first communions, Christmas, none. He did show up at all of those parties, though, and got thoroughly drunk. I still have all 17 of the birthday cards and every last one of those 153 crisp one dollar notes he gave to me. He had no children with his wife and when he died, his entire estate went to the niece that that turned out to be his biological daughter. Not only was he a stingy so-and-so in life, but he was having affairs with his sisters in law, too.
If i won, i would probably give my little bro any cents he needs for his collection, then give my friends dad any he needs, then add the rest to my hoard. (story time!) I dont think i have an uncle bill. I did have a great grandpa that had an ice business and hoarded coins his whole life. (smart guy.) He would also go to the dumps and flea markets and get car parts and re build cars (all the parts on a car were the same year though.) in fact, my mom still has his model A he built 30+ years back (i think) One thing I am told is that he could pick up ANY instrument and learn to play it well in one hour or less (just by himself.) I never got to meet him, and i am told we are much a like in certain respects. Thanks so much for the awesome contest! God bless!
If i were to win this contest i would give the coins to my best friend. As YN's we are both fascinated with coins and he is amazed with the collection that I have. He has never been able to start an actual collection because he doesnt have the money to spend on the coins, but I have given him a bunch of buffalo nickels and wheat pennies to try to help him enjoy his growing collection. For his birthday I gave him 1913, 1913D, 1913S Variety 1 buffalos, 1913 Variety 2 buffalo, and a 1909 VDB cent. He loved them and always comes over on the weekends to see the new coins that I have picked up for my collection! I know that he would be thrilled to receive a gift for the end of the school year! Thanks for holding the contest Steve61
Hmm, I don't have an uncle Bill. But if I won the contest I would give it to a younger YN than myself.
Got the prize today! So happy! Thanks so much @green18 and @Steve61 ! The images dont do the 43' D steel justice.
