I would not do any mother in law jokes for a long time. That is one sweat coin. Congrats. Is it the pics or are the obv. and rev. that different in color?
Definitely not an MS67!! But those rims look awfully sharp (which is found on a lot of business strikes) But to be sure, get some close up pics of the rims/edge and also some close ups of Lincoln's nose and also the area between Lincoln's shoulder and "LIBERTY"... just want to make sure whether you have a matte proof. But i'm guessing no from what I see so far.
the first photo i took come out strange the next to are the color and the edges are sharp post some pics in lil bit
nice, my mother in law gave me some good coins as well. she gave me an 1909-s vdb. she also gave me a 1899 $20 liberty double eagle gold coin! we got some good mother in laws!
Cleaned and they did not have airtght cases in 1909. BTW, there was a time when it was in vogue to clean your coins.
Everybody is always quick to the gun to say, "cleaned", but if these guys are saying "cleaned", it probably was. I can't imagine why people a few years ago thought cleaning was permissible, but we can't undo that.
sorry but to say they didnt have airtight cases in 1909 is like saying we did not land on the moon.im not on here to debate what it is or were its from but to simply show a nice 1909 lincoln wheat cent.it hasnot been cleaned.was graded ms67 in the mid 80s and yes it has a few but very light small baby 3 microscopic scratches but its 101 years old what do you expect?i figured no matter what coin i post someone will pic flaws no matter what it is.im not being harsh just stating the facts.please just enjoy the photos if you like lincoln cents
The only way for you to be sure it hasn't been cleaned is to have owned it since 1909. It definitely shows signs of having been cleaned. Graded MS67 in the mid-80s by who? Some guy? Is it slabbed? This is the wrong place to show a coin if you want mindless "ooohs" and "aaahs." People will give their opinions, not to bring you down, but to inform. Joe
