You'd be surprised at how many eBay sellers use as many adjectives as possible to attract random searches.

That was probably mint state 50 years ago.

Standard procedure for savvy sellers. If there's room for more than two characters left in your title, you're not maximizing your Search exposure.

Too bad the coin isn't even in the same zip code with the adjectives used to describe it.

Well, yeah, but "AU details, cleaned" doesn't have the same ring to it, you see. ;)

    Strong AU.
Don't know about the "cleaned" part.
But with the amount of verdigris I believe I'm seeing I agree with DETAILS.

I'm automatically suspicious of any key/semi-key that hasn't been slabbed.

I know the seller. He moves a lot of coins and his descriptions and grading is usually spot on. He sells a lot of low end coins as well as a lot of higher grade stuff.

Let me put it this way...

The mintage of the 1871 3 cent silver business strikes is 3,400 pieces, estimated survival all grades is 800. In 2015, he moved 4 of them.

I think he missed on this one. Assuming he didn't, my only other guess would be that it's a scanner pic, which is just plain lazy, and about the worst way you can take a picture of a red UNC coin. :(
