Just found this in a 1968 uncirculated mint coins set.Like to to see what you think.Looks like the GOD is possibly doubled an maybe the R in trust kinda looks like it is a little to, an also part of the date looks like the 9 the most. thx for the help.
Most of the doubling I see looks like Machine Doubling, it's closer to the field and somewhat shelf-like. However some areas look like true, but weak, doubled-die strikes ...but I might be wrong. Where I'm seeing it is out of focus in the pictures. It may just be my eyes deceiving me. Also, I'm not an expert in this type of error. Other, more expert opinions will follow shortly. (laughs)
I see a slightly split top on the 6, if the 8 hasn't been hit, it certainly is FAT. Looks like it is worth investigating this one. Expert comments may follow...
Is there any local expert in your town/city near you? He/she might take a look for you for free, wouldn't hurt to ask. My guess is MD though, the doubling is too close to the field, and somewhat shelf-like.
Here's a link found in the sticky: Learn About Die Doubling... http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/OtherFormsOfDoubling.htm It has decent pics and descriptions that may help you.
