Thanks! I was home today due to torrential rain. Being bored I latched on to the auction and ended up winning the better coin for better price. The first ex. a PF-69 sold for 1650 UK Pds/ mine was PF-70 and was 300 pounds cheaper You have to hand it to the Royal Mint/ they still produce awesome coins! My homeland, Germany decided to go "modern" in their designs. Thus all my 160 German States coins are pre 1915. John
John, I think you'll find that lot 90 in the auction was a previously unknown and very rare variety. It has a finer milled edge and was only recognised as a variant very recently. In PF70UC they go for around £2,700-3,000. If you look at their auction 15, lot nos. 118 and 119. The fine milled edge sold for £2,100 and the normal one for £900, both in PF70UC. Having said that, yours is a beautiful coin in its own right. Enjoy I picked up the Jane Austen 2 pounds in the same auction, an unusual reverse.
Thank you for explaining that to me Nice pickup!!! I am getting close to having a thousand AV coins in my collection.... John
