U.S. Treasury Denver Mint Token

I have one of these gifted from a friend here but looking through change, here I find this D copper token.

Looking through change? Was it in a roll? Or loose change? I can see it getting used as a cent and passing, simply because it is only being used as a cent.

 

Didn't these used to come in mint sets?

Yes and I have one of each gifted to me and when I saw this one in change. When I check out small amount I use self check out and pay cash to get change.

@Mountain Man was kind enough to gift one to me alone with its Philadelphia counterpart.

I could see where these could end up in a roll of cents although I would wonder why a collector would let them go for that.

 

Out of older modern mint sets.

Too bad they’re not dated but then the Met would’ve had to change days for them every year.
