I had originally ordered the unc versions of the Franklin coins but I received two of the Scientist. I returned one of them and the Mint replaced it. The amazing thing was that the retrun and replacement only took one week. I was amazed. The e-mails that told me that they had received it and it was being replaced arrived the day before the coin did. I am impressed.

LOL...just goes to show that they probably have a stash of "just in case" ones there..I always suspected that.

Of course they do. That is why even though a program is said to be sold out, when you look at the actual mintage you won't see 500,000. You will see something like 493,723. They strike the 500,000 and that difference is the "stash" used to replace defective coins.

My mother received two state quarter proof sets instead of the full sets she ordered and they replaced them two days after receiving her returns.Of course, living in Washington, they could have delivered it on foot in that time.
