From 1973 to 1976, the U.S. Mint, in conjunction with the Smithsonian, produced a very nice Bicentennial item, a set of 11 pewter medals, along with a 44-page booklet describing the medals and their history, all housed in a blue album somewhat similar to a Whitman Bookshelf in size and appearance. Ten of the medals were reproductions of colonial medals commemorating battles of the American Revolution, and the 11th (at the center, in the image) was a reproduction of the 1789 seal of the Treasury Department. The image shows the medals as they appear in the album page, with a quarter added for size comparison. The Bicentennial is now nearly forty years behind us, but these few collections remain as a stunning reminder of those early American heroes and their sacrifices. Price, $50 postpaid and insured. PayPal or money order; no cash, please. Reference: American Philatelic Society Life Member #12078.
