Here’s your chance…I’m buying gold for $42oz. Sell it before the government comes and gets it.

    lol

Don't you kind of think this is like making a mountain out of a mole hill?

the so called law is actually a statement of intent by this government to retain ownership of it's assets in times of war. It spacificaly says "shares" and does not mention metal in any of the articles of the 1917 Trading with the Enemy Act. They assumed it was for gold and silver back in 1917 because at that time we were on a gold and silver standard for all our money. That is no longer true, and now we play with "funny' money.

Ever once in a blue moon, someone will come up with things like this and then you never hear any more about it for another 10 or 20 years. So the next time you hear about this issue, remember I told you so!

They can have my gold when they pry my cold dead hands off my guns. Bacchus has made a TRUE statement if I ever heard one! Don't vote party EVER but examine each and every little vote as there are a lot of do gooders out there who would like to relieve each and every one of us of most our freedoms in an effort to protect us! Yeah right!

As a follow-up to this, I would strongly advise voters to totally ignore what politicians say and examine their voting records on issues that concern you. Actions speak louder than words, and that’s especially true for voting records versus campaign rhetoric.

Check your facts -- then check your premises

This "news" story apparently began here:

    http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/050822/225303.html?.v=1

It was picked up by several hard money and gold bug websites. It even made this Usenet Newsgroup: alt.sports.football.pro.gb-packers

However, it did not make CNN or MSNBC.

In fact, it did not even get any play on Rec.Collecting.Coins.

GATA is an "industry" group. Recently, they praised Mexico for the minting of silver coins.

I wonder. Would this just apply to raw gold and silver or anthing made of gold and silver?

crystalk and I are on the same page as usual. No one officially knows what precious metals I do or do not own. Likewise, no one knows what "parts kits" I may or may not own. If things ever, EVER get so squirrely, that someone tries to bust in my door...............

As far as politics go.... Look for Senators Jon Kyl (R-AZ), John Cornyn (R-TX), and George Allen (R-VA) in 2008. McCain (R-AZ) is not an option. Senators Kyl, and Cornyn, are both telegenic and eloquent. Sen. Cornyn imparts a more fatherly, experienced persona than Sen Kyl.

My personal favorite to confront Hillary the Nanny, in 2008 is:

Senator GEORGE ALLEN of Virginia This guy has it all. Telegenic, eloquent speaker (but not SO high speaking as to turn off those rural VA voters), a friendly presence, a guy you could hang out with and talk to. He also thinks the "right way" with common sense. Common sense is sorely lacking with most politicians.

Probabably more of an OT political rant on my part, but you`s opened the gate on this one. (you`s is a NJ-NY-Philly thang! :D )

Might makes right. There has never been a tribe, clan, gens, city, nation, or empire whose, father, grandfather, council, king, emperor, soldiers, hunters, honor guard, shamans, priests, witch doctors, any other man, woman or child, will not TAKE what they NEED in an EMERGENCY.

Read Ayn Rand's essay on "Lifeboat Ethics." For instance, here:
    http://www.jeffcomp.com/faq/murder.html

"The Ethics of Emergencies," Ayn Rand, from The Virtue of Selfishness, New American Library (NAL), 1982. Here is the arch-capitalist, a moralist opposed to government intervention except specifically and narrowly to constitutionally protect the lives and property of its citizens. Oh, but, in an emergency ...

We numismatists know ad hoc receipts given by guerrilla armies to people whom they robbed -- for instance Filipino patriots fighting against the Japanese. Some come from Americans, corporate managers, caught in the Phillipines who went underground with the resistance. These armies took what they needed and gave the victim a receipt which could be cashed in, assuming that this side actually won the war.

If the U.S. government figures that the life of the nation is at stake, then they will requisition what they need... and you will get a collectible numismatic receipt. That is the reality of emergencies.

I like Ayn Rand. Atlas Shrugged was way too preachy, but The Fountainhead was well done.
