    Howdy All!

I'm starting a listing of types of errors that may be found on nickels....what did I miss?

    Off Center
    Clipped--all 3 types
    Broadstruck
    Double struck
    Saddle Strike
    Die Break (Cud)
    Wrong Planchet
    Blank Planchet

    Thanks

    Brockage,
    No FS (over zealous polishing?/other?), {error? or variety?}
Missing mint mark?? ( I don't recall any for nickels but it's bound to happen),
    Doubled dies.

I forget his name, but why not list the counterfeits that are missing the mintmark over the dome?

Don't forget off metals. There are nickels that have been struck on cent or dime planchets.

My Variety and Oddity guide lists nickels struck on silver dime planchets, cent planchets and on steel cent planchets intended for 1943 & 1943 S cents.

Well...that isn't the same thing as what I'm talking about.
That is called wrong planchet...that means a planchet meant for another type of coin. When talking about Wrong Stock...the planchet is the right size for the coin it was struck on...but the type of stock, or in some cases, thickness is what is wrong. Such as...you can get a Quarter that is struck on a Dime Stock...the planchet size is right for the quarter, but it is as thin as a dime.

Nickels don't have a clad layer...but there can be a clamshell error!
