Brrr. Below freezing tonight. Stoked the woodstove and now it's storytime kiddies. Been doing a bit of reasearch on the type B quarter. Seems the mints used worn out proof dies on the reverse of some quarters. Significant characteristics are a space between the letters E and S of States and a leaf on the left of the arrow tips that goes up above the points of the arrows. Well maybe I have one and don't know it? So I looked at the reverses of all my quarters in my Dansco. Easy enough to do that. Nope no type B. Then moved to a roll I got from an old lady up in Massachusetts. Bingo. Found what I believe to be two 1963 P type B quarters. What I didn't do yet is pull all the quarters out of my two Whitman folders to look at the backs. Anyway here is a pic of the space between the letters E and S in the word states: And in this shot you clearly see a leaf on the left extending up past the arrow tips: Please let me know if you think this is not a type B. Thanks.
thanks Hey thanks dude. My interests and focus move around so fast I never dwell in one series very long. Now I suppose I can't rest until I take all the quarters out of my 2 Whitman folders!
