With a mintage of only 1,520 and its status as a one year type coin, the 1913 Type I Nickel should be more expensive than it is. The trouble is it was struck in the Matte Proof format which not a great deal different from the Mint State pieces. Here is a Matte Proof 1913, Type I Buffalo Nickel. Here is a Mint State piece. The Matte Proof is sharper, but differences are not huge, especially when the Mint State coin is high grade, which this piece is not. It's in a Green Label MS-63 holder.
