Well at least this one coin will not be melted down. I know it's a small crack off the end of the t, something is better than nothing.
I admit that I spent way too much time staring at the pictures and still don't see what you are talking about. Why would you melt this coin down anyways? It's just copper/nickel. Not silver.

The old coinage was no longer good after October 15, 2017. They say they're going to collect all the old coinage and melted down to make the new coinage. They also estimate that there's over $500 million worth of coinage, that people just have laying around or in collections.
