After reading some of the postings about going to the bank and getting rolls of coins to search I decided to do that at lunch today. I came back with two rolls of halves. I was hoping for some silver but no such luck. I have 1997 D through 2000 D. Some look really nice and might pass for BU when I get a better chance to look them over at home. Is there anything else in particular I should watch out for on these particular coins? If not I may pick out the nicest and use the rest to pay my kids their allowances.

Just older unc. ones I guess. A good way to tell with Kennedy halves is to check the edges and see how brightly orange they still are.

Grab you a 10X loop, and every half you get, look at them carefully, look at mintmarks, dates, lettering and anything that might have a possible error, who knows you might be able to find something pretty valuable, I think it's the 74 P kennedy that has a doubled die reverse, not exactly for sure on that though, it's been a while since i've actually looked for errors.

Yes--the 1974 does have a DD and my dealer had one in XF for $75!!!

If you want to start a set of Kennedys you might be able to do it all from the bank--yes..even the 1970-D!!

I finally have a chance to sit down and take a look a these coins. I have an 8X loop. It'll have to do for now. I haven't even looked them over carefully, just laid out one roll on the table but I'm already surprised to discover that there are 9 Philadelphia mint coins among the 20 coins in this one roll. That has to be a jackpot for me. :)
