So I decided to jump into buying a few Morgan Silver dollars. To protect myself I went the graded route and also bought from a store that others had recommended. I had just received the coin today and decided to check ebay to see if I can find any more I might like... and thats when I stumbled on this Morgan coin It looks exactly like mine, it even has the same serial number. Now I may be a beginner to coins but I'm not a beginner to collecting and I know that grading companies don't use the same serial numbers. So what gives? Is the seller stealing images or did PCGS mess up?
You have the slab in hand, and it has the same exact serial number (20296410) as the ebay coin? If that's the case then no way the pics on eBay are of the coin being sold. The seller has a pretty long Neg/Neutral list, but nothing about using different pics. http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=noahdubois32&Dirn=Received+by&ref=home You might want to contact the eBay seller and ask if the pics are of the exact coin, should be an interesting answer. Btw, can you post pics of your coin?
Pretty amazing, ebay won't let me send the seller a message. According to them the seller receives too many messages. Thats a first for me, in any case here is a picture of the coin Picked it up at cheap slabs. The only thing I can think of is reporting it to ebay, not even sure if ebay would care though.
If this seller is using somebody elses pics I would bet the seller who sold you the coin would appreciate knowing about this also.
Oh they do care. They would pull the auction in a heartbeat. You might have to email ebay your pic to prove that it's not the sellers.
Never hear of that before either. But you can report it, eBay has removed auctions in the past for copying pics (there was just a thread on that I believe). Nice coin btw.
How is this guy still doing business on ebay? His feedback is awful. "Police report filled" as a response to a negative feedback. Please! This guy is a joke and gives quality ebay sellers a bad rap. Report his photo misrepresentation to ebay as soon as possible. This joker needs to be shut down.
The obverse coin on eBay looks like a completely different coin than yours. Something is definitely fishy with one of the numbers.
I disagree, imo the two images are without a doubt of the same coin. The hits and the toning spots are just too similar to be two different coins.
even assuming you have the real one, maybe it's a real one that fakers used as a template. the seller may be involved, or he may have been fooled as well
Well I do hope I have the real one. I used a site that some here have recommended, and I'm guessing that some forum members buy from him as well.
You are correct. I didn't have it blown up enough. I just saw that the dark area above the head was different on the other coin. I see all the markers now.
Yes, the picture came from Cheapslabs. I notified them of the stolen image in case they want to further pursue the seller.
