Here are two new silver coins I bought recently. I really liked them both as soon as I saw them; I think they are fairly striking coins. I also thought they were in nice shape, and got a decent deal on them. The Japanese 10 sen really caught my eye; that's a nice dragon, I think.

I also got a Fiji shilling and an Australian shilling I want to post pics of later, too.

    Very nice - Meiji 38 (1905) 2.6957g .800 silver, .07 oz ASW, Y#23.

It might look even nicer if I didn't have to stand on my head to look at it. :p

    D'oh!

The sad thing is, I knew that when I actually looked at the coin, but I have to be paying attention. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention when I took the pics. I was just trying to get it in focus well and get the light right.

There have been a few coins that i've seen on this site and though 'wow, that's hot...and then gone and bought one'

That NZ shilling i've taken a shine to...and I'm currently bidding on one on our fave auction site :D

The New Zealand silver 1/- was struck between 1933 & 1946.There is a variety in the 1942 that is worth looking out for.It is called the 'Broken Back' variety,as the back of the Maori above the skirt has a noticeable gap.It also exists on the 1958 1/- (which isn't silver).
