I stopped playing with my camera long enough to image my two latest items. Exposure on the copper coin looks good but the same lighting is too much for the silver coin. Have to remember to make an adjustment.
Yeah, looks like you blew the highlights a bit on the Bay Bridge (are you sure Baha didn't set the exposure? ), but my oh my, what a nice coin! THanks for sharing...Mike
Yes, trying to put an XF-or-better set together. But I think I'll have to lower that goal when it comes to the 1811 varieties. I'll probably have to be satisfied with VF. But who knows. Once you get the coin in hand sometimes you forget about money.
haha,, actually this is probably what happened to me too. I got finally got comfortable taking pics of copper and then just kept the process for blast white silver.... and am not photo-savy enough to know how to set "exposure" on my wifes Canon D40 (there isn't an 'exposure' button that I could find ..... so I guess the trick is to cut the lighting by 30-50% or so... still haven't worked it out,, probably will never.
I'm going to post my Bay Bridge (purchased fairly recently) because the way the toning has settled on the reverse really brings out the wave pattern. Not many commems. have a sense of movement like this one, with the water and the ships coming in from the left (West). The Bridge gives a real sense of depth, too. I think the designer did a great job on this one.
Never seen a Bay Bridge Coin, I would love to own one of these someday! Awesome coins, thanks for sharing!
I had intended to limit my commems to a particular area of interest I have, but darn it! Every so often one just calls out to you. Listen to your gut... it is wise
