Two nice Japanese coins - 5 yen in old script

    Thought I would share as it would interest Roy.

    The 5 yen coins are minted back in 1951 and this is the type when the old script is used. Frankly speaking, I prefer the old script much better than the modern script.

    Mintage of this particular coin is somewhat at 10 million - somewhat easy to get but I believe it's much tougher to find it in UNC grade, much harder without the ugly brass brown toning!

    I did forget to add that the first coin has a minor holing problem and the second coin has a 2-3 degrees rotation error, which isn't too common for any Japanese coins.

    Heisei 10 would be 1998. Here is another example minted in 2000 but my photography is bad.

    If I had a choice, I would prefer old copper 10 yen in proof such as this but none were minted back then.

    Gxseries,those are very good photos.It's the bubble plastic capsules that is bowing & reflecting the light,because of their convex shape.
