Got this coin from a dealer who decided that the damage (if thats what it is) is some kind of abscess that goes into the coin metal, and hence was selling it for really cheap. When i looked at it, i decided this is something that sits on coin surface, not really going into it. Would like to know the nature of the little "dots" on coin surface, shown on the photos. If someone can look in the book, would be also nice to know the value.
Are rusty dies usually considered as damage that makes the coin less valuable or is it adding some premium to the coin?
I've been keeping the ones I find but I think the general consensus is that it's more damage than a collectible (valuable) error. Similar to poorly polished dies. Interesting but not too desirable.
