Was in the mall and visited the currency excahnge booth; was talking to the guy there about currency, and how I collected banknotes from various places. He had a lot of interesting insights; one expects that someone who works that kind of job takes some sort of interest. Anyway out of impulse asked if he had any of the new Japanese currency in good condition, and picked up these two notes for face value (he even waived the service charge! The booth still makes somewhat of a profit on the exchange rate, but still, that was nice.) Both are in pretty good shape, barely circulated, and considering what I'd have to pay on eBay for uncirculated ones don't mind the barely noticeable wear. Japan, 1000 yen, 2004 Japan, 5000 yen, 2004 Almost got the 10,000 yen note too but that was more than the free cash I had at the moment lol... (it's worth a little over $100 US atm). If there's a currency exchange booth near you would suggest checking there to see if they have any good quality notes! A lot cheaper than eBay, good variety usually (at least of the major currencies), and may very well have notes that are in uncirculated conditon or almost so.
