Hello ,I am new to this site. Have a ?. Is this coin worth anything? Found it while I was metal Detecting. Thanks for any Help.
It's a magician's coin. If you examine it under high magnification, you can probably see the seam along the rim of one where they were fitted together. These are made by using a lathe to ream out the reverse of one coin just inside the rim to a specific depth. Next, you use the lathe to remove the rim and a portion of the entire obverse surface of a second coin so that it can be inserted into the other. Since you found this metal detecting, it's possible that dirt and/or corrosion may have served to hide the seam. Chris PS. The next time you want to take a photo of both sides simultaneously, use a mirror.
