I can’t believe this might be happening!?! Has all creativity left the US Mint? What do you all think?

I have only bought one medal from the mint. I would have liked it in a silver option. Maybe the one I bought, the mint will restrike in silver at a later date. Some of the other medals have some nice designs. Others not so much.

I can understand your point of view. I guess when I read “Presidential” I was oh no not again!! Lol I guess I shouldn’t expect too much outside the box thinking from the Mint.

I would prefer the silver presidential medals to be presidential silver dollars. For me, medals always appear to be lacking something, and that something is lettering indicating that it is actually money.

Right, too much of a bad thing is a bad thing. No more presidential anything would be fine with me.

I think a lot of collectors are tired of presidential dollars. Silver or otherwise. Just look how creative other Mints can be. That can be good or bad depending on how many products are put out for sale but at least they’re trying. I do understand that other world mints have more freedom than the US Mint. Unfortunately that causes mediocre designs because of the political factors involved

I bought a full set of the 1-5/16" bronze Presidential medals (through Clinton) when they were $2.25 each. That was in 2004, and a few years later, the Mint was charging $6.95 for the very same medals.

I have no idea what the Mint will be charging for these silver proof versions, but I would guess that it ain't gonna be cheap.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the 1-5/16" and 3" bronze medals minted for each President for the their respective inaugurations still available?

I have just one of these bronze medals, a 1-5/16" size, purchased many years ago at Springwood, Franklin Roosevelt's home in Hyde Park, NY.

There were also large Indian Peace medals minted for many years, as well, but I do not believe they are minted and sold any longer. The only exception to these medals was a special set with an Indian Peace medal for President Jefferson and the commemorative nickels for the Corps of Discovery.

I do have all the First Ladies medals. Could not afford the gold coins.

Of all finishes to do these in, mirrored proof is the least desirable to me.

There have been times when I browsed through the smaller bronze medals and not every President was offered. I also noticed that the Mint is offering two separate medals, one for each term of Obama, but for earlier Presidents, they produced just one medal for the full term like Reagan, Roosevelt, etc. I think they're doing this just to make more money.
