Up until last month, my Twelve Caesars set had been stuck at Six Caesars for yonks. Frankly, it wasn't a set I was in a hurry to complete, mainly because I was hunting very specific coins for certain Caesars rather than random ones for the sake of completing the set. Then, a single group lot purchase sent a flurry of very random Caesars into my collection, and eh... Twelve Caesars set, done . So maybe this wasn't quite the epic finish to my Twelve Caesars quest, but now that I've photographed (or rephotographed) them and put them in a virtual tray, I'm plenty pleased by how they look together. It's a mixed bag of denominations and grades, but I think it has a motley charm to it . Nevertheless, I'm calling this set Version 1.0 because I'm still on the hunt for some of those specific coins that I had originally intended to include in the set. Please feel free to share your Twelve Caesars sets!
Outstanding! The mix is interesting, the coins lovely in their variety, and the virtual tray pleasingly presented. Congratulations on your serendipitous finish .
Thanks, rooman. It's always nice to receive a compliment from a non-ancients collector. Maybe one day you'll give the Dark Side a try .
It's a great set and several coins I would gladly take. Here is mine, minus Tiberius since just parted with it for a different Tiberius, which will be shared at a later time.
Every time I see the name Tiberius I think of Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise.. T stands for Tiberius.. sorry to get off the subject a little. But hey nice collection you have there!
haha maybe maybe. I have a handful of ancients, nothing fancy. I do like them I just can only collect so much! (and so little time).
Great set, Z-Bro (and Mat) ... wow, that must be a good feeling to complete a coin-project, eh? Sadly, I still need three biggees (not surprisingly => JC, Otho and Vitellius)
Nice sets. I'm contemplating starting a collection of ancients. With me being so novice what's the difficulty level in completing the 12 Caesars?
Cost, several number of them are a few hundred each, especially Otho and if you want it all silver or you can live with some bronze issues, which is easier to afford.
wonderful! i like a good mix of coins and the tray looks great Z. you at least need to cross out the 6 and put a 12 on that sticker!
Great collection. I just started mine in April so I still need 7 of them. Congrats on a great accomplishment.
