Which TV coin shows (and hosts) can be trusted? Which one's cannot be trusted?

Sad but truthful and simple answer... NONE and NONE.

Although I'm new to the hobby, I can sadly see that you're probably right.

100% of what they say is only 50% true.

Can anyone guess who it was that gave me the idea for this comment?

I do believe you can gain some knowledge off those shows though... while not of value or price, you can gain some knowledge off the history and providence of the slab and coin series they are show casing.... But.... anything taken off a coin show has to be taken with a grain of salt.

I don't think they blatantly tell lies, they just spin the truth to fit their BS. For example they will claim the 1955-S Lincoln cent has the lowest mintage since 1939 up to the present time. Get yours before they're all gone, etc. This may be true but 44 million doesn't make it rare, but they'll make it sound like it is. (Not counting proof coins).

    Yes, those are called " Half-Truths ".

A lot of people use those, hoping you don't know the difference and won't find out about the other half.

    Especially politicians and salespeople.

Actually, isn't that what a politician is , a salesperson?

There is a fellow on here that writes very succinct reviews on the TV coin guys. If I was dangerous with technology I would post a link....... But yes all is true. Keep in mind these guys overhead (cost of doing business) is enormous. So yes, they spin these pieces every way they can to convince the buying public they are offering you great deals. In fact everything that they offer can be had at your local coin shop at 50% or more cheaper.
