I've been strap searching (and looking at work) for a year now, finding a whole range of star note series, runs and conditions. Now I have amassed 140 common, lower quality 1$ star notes mostly from 1999-2013. In addition, a common 1990 50$ star. So now I have 200$ in stars with no real value and I'm putting it toward buying a 1889 Black Eagle (Speelman/White) (T/A) Gem+ Unc
I like that note but it has a gently sloping line from the right side of the blue seal up to the side of the paper a little more than halfway up. Be careful.
Who is the grading company on this and what did it grade? I see "Original Paper Quality" listed by the numeric information. Anything else noted? MEC2: You must have better eyes. Even with your location information, I just don't see it.
Note has great eye appeal. Is that an old or new CGA holder sir ? Never mind.....the old CGA didn't use an "Original Paper Quality" notation.
If it appears as a white mark across the note, I can pick something up every now and then. I doubt personally I would have noticed it. I have a raw Black Eagle, and now I wonder what other distractions are on it; I missed seeing at the time of purchase.
== I'm with MEC2, be careful. Can't tell if what MEC refers to is a "slight" fold or bend or exactly what but does require CAREFUL exam. Example: take a look at mine that I purchased as a Choice Unc, even I missed the almost invisible center fold. == look at the fold, and like I said I missed it myself, just above 'R' in Certificate, then == almost invisible white line vertically through the note. == Otherwise that is a SUPER note!
I was unfortunately outbid on the 1899 1$ Black Eagle Speelman/White (66 Gem+). But for less money (20$) I won an auction for a Teehee/Burke (67 Superb Gem). Only 11 more signatures to go...
