I just picked up this copy of Tunisia P24 in seriously nice condition. It's not listed above XF in Pick or the French catalogs, so it's fairly rare. It also happens to be drawn by one of my favorite banknote artists, Robert Poughéon Dave
I have to believe that is one of the first, if not the first, mosaics I have ever seen depicted on a banknote. Tunisia has some remarkable Carthaginian and Roman historical buildings - many in amazing condition, and I would love to see them someday. I think they also have some great banknotes, and I have managed to even sneak one into my collecting theme.
There are several notes from Tunisia with mosaics, though they are pricey and hard to find in decent shape. But that's the only country I can remember seeing a mosaic from. Morocco issued some notes with very detailed tile work, but I'm not certain if there's a distinction between a mosaic and more of a geometrical pattern in tile. Dave
I picked up another rare note from Tunisia. This is the 500F Winged Victory note. Again with this one, not even cataloged in Unc. The back is a Roman mosaic of "Cyclopses forging Jupiter’s thunderbolts" at Dougga, Tunisia. Dave
