I just purchased a bill from Heritage that was graded by PMG. On the back of the note it states internal repairs.I was just wondering what there definition was for internal repairs. It's just hard to imagine that something like this could be done with a bill without any visible work noticeable.I do know this bill would have graded higher if there wasn't the internal repairs. Thanks R.B PLEASE LOOK AT 2ND POST FOR LARGER PICTURES
i think internal repairs menas a pin hole was fixed? so i would 'guess' that maybe a small pinhole or other 'item' on the note was fixed or repaired.
With a pinhole usually the paper hasn't been removed , its just been pushed out to the sides of the hole. There are note doctors who can piece those fibers back together & with a tiny bit of glue or other agent. Try it yourself with a regular $1 FR note. Put a pinhole through it in busy part of the design. Get out a magnifying glass ,toothpick & a bit of watered down glue. With patience you can work the fibers & make it look OK if its hidden in the design. Just go as light as possible with the glue. Oh, & I do think the note would have graded a touch higher without the repair.
Not only a touch higher i think. With the label as it is, PCGS thinks the repair was sloppy, or by a non-proffessional. Its possible they knocked it down a bunch just for that. With how subjective they can be though, anything is possible
