Hello. This is my first post here. I basically joined because I thought you would be able to help me. My friend has 4 consecutive 2003a $1 star notes. They are from the federal reserve bank of NY. The seal is green. I know they are relatively new, and only $1 bills, so we have no idea if these have any value. If any more details are needed I can get them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Yes. Some pics would help us to make a better determination but basically, Star notes are always a good thing specially if all four of them are stars and are all in good condition the crispier and with no folds the better. Oh and now that i see your little foot note that they are uncirculated that makes it better as far as what they are worth that I dont know. Here are a couple of mine, note consecutive but stars and nice none the less.

This is a quick shot. I dont want to take them out of the plastic until he is out of the shower, lest I hurt them somehow.

The 4 consecutive numbers are B 07738836 through --39. Better pic to come.

still a pretty bad pic to tell much from it, but they are uncirculated. PM me if he is interested in selling them we could work something out. Just seen on ebay 5 consecutive $1 star notes buy now price was $15.50 i believe, and buy now is usually more then what the item is actually worth IMO.

These star note come from a run of over 6 million 400 thousand notes (6,400,000) current value in unc is ~$ 10 each
Nice find in the wild.. I would say they may fetch you $6-$8 each from a buyer. Had these been from two other printings of 320,000 notes they would have been worth ~40-45 each.

    Thanks for posting the images.

Thank you so much for the info! I have one question. Since they don't have that much value, would it be wiser for him to hang on to them? I assume they would be worth more as time goes by. Is that the case? Let me put it this way.. If you had them, what would you do? :)

well it depends one the person, if he is a currency collector or wants to become one then he should hold onto them as his first find. as with anything "rare" it will most likley go up in value over time as long as paper money still has value. its a fun hobby/investment as long as you have the patience, money, and time to put into it. and there is Cointalk here to always help him with any questions or concerns.

If it were me (and I collect NY Notes) I would keep the best 2 examples for my personal collection and sell the others. Use the $$ from the other notes to add to my collection.
    But hey, thats just me.:D

    Good luck.
