I collected 1 silver proof of each state, and I intend to get the territories too. I want to put them in an album and the Dansco 7146 (seen HERE) would be ideal. Does anyone know if Dansco will put out an update page or something for this album to include the territories?

I might just get this IS album since it has 10 blank slots at the end but obviously a labeled page would be ideal.

    just to play devil's advocate...

have you thought about a nice Capitol Plastics holder? They are inert and won't tone your nice silver proofs, they have no slides to leave hairlines, and you can have them custom made to include the territories if you want or not.

I think that many people are making a mistake by putting nice brilliant silver coins in Dansco albums. I have seen plenty of silver coins in Dansco albums with absolutely hideous brown toning after just a few years. And it wasn't improper storage because the other silver coins stored along side didn't tone at all. These albums are made of cardboard people!!! The sulfur in the paper will tone your silver coins!

    :::smashing soapbox:::

there, now I won't be able to use that any more!

Hmmm I'll think about it. Is it correct to assume that an Intercept Shield album wouldn't be any better?

Yes, but not separate pages (at least not that I could find).
    I bought a #7144 which is their 2 page P&D only album.

no need to answer my question. I found an old thread with some of the same questions being asked and answered.

And I think I am going to go with an IS album. From what I've read it shouldn't tone as badly, it certainly won't leave a brown toning ring. I know there's still the risk of a bit of scratching but that doesn't bother me too much. These aren't highly graded coins after all, just what I've picked out of the proof set I bought from each year.

Intercept Shield would be better than Dansco.
But even they admit their albums have a limited lifetime (10 years? 20 years? something like that).
A Capital Plastic holder should be good far past our time.

allegedly it should be better but the intercept shield still has the slides.

I have not seen any toning in these albums, but truthfully, I haven't seen a number of these.

I still don't like the hairlines left behind by albums with slides. I figure that these are nice coins and I don't want to degrade them in any way.

I have sen many high-end collections in capitol plastics. Never seen a toned coin in one yet. For people that have bright, untoned coins, it appears to me to be the best long-term storage.

    Agreed.
But (no surprise) you'll have to pay more for that.
You have to sort of balance the future value of your coins against the cost of the holder.

True, but they're not as expensive as people may think, and may be price competitive when compared against an intercept shield album.
