I've been going through all of my coins from Germany and have been able to identify all of them 100% except this one. I bought it on ebay a couple years ago and wrote "Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg" on the holder from the auction but it is not in my book so I can not confirm that. You see my book cuts off the ruler of the coin by only 1 year! So I'd appreciate it if one of you could check your books and let me know for sure it is from Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and that its denomination is a 1/48 Thaler(just guessing on that). Thanks in advance-Russell

It is a possibility. It could be from Saxony itself,or even from the other Saxon duchies,
    such as Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach.

I guess I was right on all along. I posted in coincommunity.com and this is what Susan wrote:
"It is in my Krause as C#15, composed of billon. In VG, this coin has a Krause value of $7.50. My opinion is that your coin is in Good condition. It is a 1/48 Thaler from the state of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg."

I finally have all of my German coins properly identified now. :)
Thanks for your help as well Aidan.
