Do you know some Panamanian proof coins struck by the the Royal Canadian Mint were never authorized by the Panamanian government?

This happened in 1993. The Royal Canadian Mint was authorized to strike proof Quarter-balboas for Panama in 1983 and 1986. They, somehow, managed to strike the Quarter-balboa proofs in 1993 without any authorization. However, 1993 business strikes were authorized.

While I'm on the subject encompassing unauthorized striking of 1993 proof coins for Panama by the RCMP, here's more unauthorized strikes of 1993 Panama denominations:

Five Centesimos, Tenth-balboa and Half Balboa.

Unauthorized Panamanian proof coin mintages weren't only produced by the RCMP, but earlier unauthorized proof coins were minted by the Franklin Mint in 1985. Those denominations are:

Centesimo, Two and one-half Centesimos, Five Centesimos, Tenth-balboa, and Half Balboa.

Authorization for striking the above coins in proof was given in 1983 and 1984.

If your collection of Panamanian proof coinage lack those 1985 and 1993 coins, don't despair. Now you know they shouldn't exist anyway and are not really a part of a Panamanian coin collection.

    Thought you ought be informed...Okay?

Great info Clinker. Panamanian collectors of these coins should rest easy now.

Thanks for commenting on this post AND thanks for visiting My Numismatic Fun Wbsite...

I enjoyed putting all the coins on the page and making sure the Amazing Clock would move toward your curser or away from it so you could maneuver the clock over your favorite U.S. coin in all the sizes.

Small size has obly clock face on it.
Nedium size has moving outside circle entirely off the coin.
Large coin has entire clock on it.
