Thaler Coinage of the Pre Empire German States - Chapter 27

As we continue our quest in seeing the Thaler Coinage of the Pre Empire German States we come to another alphabetical listing under the letter D which now stands for Dagsburg.

Dagsburg (while viable) was under the family branches of Leiningen-Dagsburg-Falkenburg-Heidesheim,
    Leningen-Dagsburg, Leiningen-Falkenburg-Dagsburg, Leiningen-Dagsburg-Hartenburg and Leiningen-Dagsburg-Heidesheim.

    MINOR THALER COINAGE:

Georg Wilhelm issued this typical 15 Kreuzer coin in 1691:

In 1676 Ludwig authorized the minting of this 60 Kreuzer:

Karl Friedrich Wilhelm, leader of Leiningen-Dagsburg from 1756 to 1807 isuued Kreuzer coinage as evidenced by this 6 Kreuzer piece:

    EXAMPLES OF THALER COINAGE:

Johann Ludwig ruled over Leiningen-Dagsburg from 1593 until 1625 and produced silver Thaler coins such as these:

There were two bronze Medals struck during the Thaler era of Dagsburg, so I'm presenting them to you as a bonus for reading this post (Coin Archives photos):

This Medal honors Theobald I, son of Friedrich II and Agnes von Bar on its obverse and the reverse features the bust of Gemahlin Gertrud von Dagsburg

Hope you enjoyed these rare pieces of German State history.

Interesting, Clinker - I had never heard of Dagsburg. :) Just looked it up, and the name of the place today is Dabo, a small French town in Lorraine ...
