    Are you ready for the coinage of 2000 minted by Europe's Post Soviet Socialist Republics? Here's a look at The Republics of Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Slovakia, Transdniestra,Turkey and the Ukraine!

    GEORGIA:

    The Georgian Democratic Republic's base coin is "Lari" which is broken down to "100 Thetri." In 2000 seven different "10 Lari" commemorative coins minted.

    1st Ten Lari is a 26mm Bi-metallic (Copper-Nickel Center in Brass Ring) coin Commemorating "3,000 Years State System." 1,000 NCLTs minted

    2nd (no photo) is a 28.4mm Silver (.8410 oz. ASW) coin with same obverse and reverse as the first coin. 1,000 Proofs minted.

    3rd (no photo - same design as 1st two coins) is a 38.1mm Copper-Nickel commemorative. 2,000 NCLTs.

    4th is a 25.9mm Bi-metallic (Copper-Nickel Center in Brass Ring) celebrating "New Millennium" (2000 Years of Christianity) by placing the "Christian Coat-of-Arms on the reverse. Added to the center of the Coat-of-Arms is a "Holy Robe." 25,000 minted:

    5th is a 28.4mm Silver (.8410 oz. ASW) commemorative with the same design as 4th coin.

    6th is a 38.61mm Copper-Nickel Coin with same design as the 4th and 5th coins.

    The final 10 Lari (7th) is (same design as 4, 5, and 6) a 28.3mm Silver (.463 oz. ASW) commemorative. 2,000 Proofs.

    In 2000 Russia minted (3,000 Proofs each) 33mm Silver (0.5046 oz. ASW) 3 varieties of1 Rouble Commemorative Coins.

    Look at this Regular Rouble photo and notice its obverse (Double-headed Eagle) because the three commemoratives have the exact same obverse (the commems don't have photos)

    One honors "Wildlife" with reverse bearing "Two Blackhooded Cranes."

    Another celebrates "Wildlife" with "Leopard Runner Snake" on reverse.

    3rd coin commemorates "Wildlife" with "Russian Desman" on reverse.

    Three Silver (.5056 oz. ASW) Proof (5,000) Two Roubles were issued commemorating three Great Men (no photos).

    Obverse of all three coins have the Double Eagle.

    One's reverse has Eugeny Abramovich Baratnsky's bust.

    2's reverse has a cameo bust of F.A. Vassiliyev.

    3's has cameo bust of S.V. Kovaleuskaya.

    Russia minted seven more Two Roubles Commemorative coins. Their compodition is Copper-Nickel-Zinc. All are World War II Commemoratives and each's mintage figure is 10,000,000:

    Before we leave Russia in our "Millennnium Coins" Trivia article, there are more coins to describe (no photos) to you. 1st is a 33mm 2 Roubles Silver (.9250 oz. ASW) Coin (5,000 Proofs) commemorating M. I. Chigorin with a cameo portrait of "Chigorin and Chess Pieces" on reverse. Obverse: Double-headed Eagle.

    Next are 12 (Proof) Three Roubles commemorative Silver coins. If I omit an obverse description, that coin's obverse bears the Double Eagle design on it.

    One (1.0093 oz. ASW) celebrates "World Ice Hockey Championships" with "Two Hockey Players" on reverse.

    Two (1.0058 oz. ASW) celebrates "2000 Olympics in Sydney" (XXVII) with "2000 Olympics" design superimposed over a "Map of Austrailia." Ring 2 encircles a skater, Ring 3 encircles a high jumper and Ring 4 encircles a weight lifter with weights. Between the map and the coin's rim at 6:00 is a hopping kangaroo facing left.

    Three (1.1135 oz. ASW) features a "Soccer" theme by placing two "Soccer Players" representing Russia on a map along with a soccer ball (at the feet of the players) being kicked into the Net.

    4 (1.0110 oz. ASW) honors "55th Anniversary of WW II" with a "Seated Soldier" filling 80% of the obverse while the "Soviet Order of Glory" medal adorns reverse.

    Coin 5 (39mm 1.0093 oz. ASW) commemorates "St. Nicholas Monastery" by placing a full-length figure of St. Nicholas with halo on the left third of reverse and Monestery buildings majestically taking up the right two-thirds.

    6 (1.0093 oz. ASW) honors "Kremlin at Novgorod" with the "Kremlin" buildings.

    7 (.9000 oz. ASW) commemorates "City of Puskin" with a scene of Puskin Park and City Surroundings.

    8 (1.0093 oz. ASW), celebrates the "New (3rd) Millennium" by placing an Astronaut floating above tall skyscrapers of a city along with an "Atomics Elements Chart" on reverse.

    9 (1.0093 oz. ASW) is another "New Millennium" commememorative with the theme "Human's Role in the 3rd Millennium" and the theme resonates with the participants on the reverse: "Tree of Life" in right center as a background entity; two full-length "Humans" (man and women) in left center facing out with the man's right arm extended to place palm of his hand against a huge cog wheel while his left arm is extended in the act of placing the palm of his left hand against a computer screen.

    10 (1.0093 oz.ASW) commemorates (3,000 minted) "140th Anniversary - State Bank of Russia" with a seated Allegorical woman.

    11 (1.0093 oz. ASW) has a WW II theme by putting a Battle Scene on the reverse honoring Field Marshal Suvorov and his campaign against Switzerland.

    Coin 12 Three Roubles Silver (1.0093 oz. ASW) honors "Wildlife" with a large Snow Leopard on old log.

    Next is a 10 Roubles Bi-metallic (Copper-Nickel Center in Brass Ring) coin whose theme is "Victorious Conclusion of WWII." Obverse: Denomination. Reverse: Infantry Officer Leading an Assult. 20,000,000 struck (10,000,000 in Moscow - 10,000,000 in Saint Petersburg).

    3 50 Roubles Gold (22.6mm). Obverse: Double Eagle. (no photo)
