Four Falkland Islands Commemorative Crowns Of 2007 In 2007 the Pobjoy Mint contracted with the Falkland Islands to strike four coins to honor four different Britons who proved their importance to the Islands. Pobjoy Mint produced the commemoratives in copper-nickel uncirculated and in silver proof. Those four honorees are: Queen Elizabeth I (the last of the Tudor monarchs) because she was Queen when the first settlement was established on the Islands. Charles Darwin because of his 1833 visit to the Falkland Islands aboard his ship, The Beagle. Lord Baden Powell, creator of the scout movement, because of the use of Powell's Sea Scouts. In fact the Falkland Islands Government, in 1947, presented Lord Powell a vessel christened Discovery for that selfless act. Former Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of his leadership in World War II. Here's a photo showing the four coins (The obverse of the four coins is shown in that centered coin featuring Queen Elizabeth II, the legend FALKLAND ISLANDS and the date 2007).
