You know the history of the Peace Dollar, how it was to be a Commemorative of the allies victory ending World War I, the reason why Anthony de Francisci spelled TRUST as TRVST, but what other coin did de Francisci design? Before I tell you I want to give you a look at the 1921 Peace Dollar (courtesy of Coin Facts): http://www.coinfacts.com/silver_dollars/peace_dollars/1921_peace_dollar.htm Actually Anthony de Francisci didn't design any other coin. However his name is associated with a coin which bears the date 1920, a year earlier than the 1921 Peace Dollar. Only 50,028 of these coins were minted. That coin is the 1920 Maine Cennential Half Dollar. de Francisci created the models for the Half Dollar from a design by Harry H. Cochrane. The obverse bears the Maine State Arms. Lots to see in that design! Here's a photo (courtesy of Northeast Numismatics): http://www.coinfacts.com/commemoratives/half_dollar_commems/maine_half_dollar.htm Hope you enjoyed this trivia... I just started a rainbow toned collection of Peace Dollars. I have two of the common dates so far. This will be a very long an arduous process I think.
