Do you collect Eagle bullion coins by the piece, set or type

As you know they all (silver one-ounce; gold tenth-ounce, quarter-ounce, half-ounce and one ounce; platinum tenth-ounce, quarter-ounce, half-ounce and one-ounce pieces) are struck in uncirculated and proof.

Buy any dated Silver Eagle, uncirculated or proof, and you have a one-ounce Eagle Silver Bullion "type" coin.
Buy any dated Gold Eagle tenth-ounce, uncirculated or proof, and you have a tenth-ounce Eagle Gold Bullion "type" coin.
Buy any dated Gold Eagle quarter-ounce, uncirculated or proof, and you have a quarter-ounce Eagle Gold Bullion "type" coin.
Buy any dated Gold Eagle half-ounce, uncirculated or proof, and you have a half-ounce Eagle Gold Bullion "type coin.
Buy any Gold dated Eagle one-ounce, uncirculated or proof, and you have a one-ounce Eagle Gold Bullion "type" coin
    .
Not so with Eagle Platinum Bullion coins.

The 1997 Eagle Platinum Bullion coins (all denominations) are the same (obverse and reverse), but changes came about in 1998 and will continue through 2008.

Those changes refer to the reverses of the proof Eagle Platinum bullion coins. The obverses of all platinum bullion coins are the same (Lady Liberty, date and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST."

In 1998 through 2002 the reverses of the proof coins were changed each year bearing Thomas D. Rogers, Sr's Vistas of Liberty artistic designs.

The reverses of 2003 Eagle Platinum Bullion proof coins bear Roger's rendition of an Eagle on a Flowering Branch/Flag in the background design.
The 2004 proof reverse pictures the Muse of Freedom holding a Freedom Torch in her right hand with an Eagle to the left of her feet.

The 2005 proof reverse has Roger's Heraldic Eagle on a cornucopia.

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Eagles!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh a subject near and dear to my collector heart!!!!!
I have been collecting the entire series in both Uncirc and proof for 20 years now. Most folks on here know that I have amassed the entire uncirculated series in all denominations except the 1 ounce coins. I only need 10 more to go. The Proof coins are finished in 1/4 oz, 1/10th oz need 7 more 1/2 oz need 15 more and 1 ounce need 12 more.
The addition of the 3 coin 20th Anniversary Set put me behind somewhat in the normal collection but I am glad I have it.

Plat Eagles I have completed the 1/10th oz in uncirc and proof and working on the 1/4 and 1/2 oz coins now...very expensive..need I say that!
My feelings are that one day after I am long dead and gone, my son will benefit from my assembly work. There are some significant dates among the coins that are reflected in their price point. All coins are PCGS MS and PRF 69. I hope to register them one day and be remembered for having one of the finest sets ever assembled (pipe dream) but it is my dream. The Eagles will one day be a highly sought after collection.

Clinker, in addition to what you wrote, for the Platinum bullion coins, they had parts of the devices that were shiny and reflective up until 2003. For 2004 and later, they're all matte finish.

BTW guy's..for the first time ever the platinum and AGE uncirculated will have the "W" mint mark. The Plat coins in uncirculated will bear the same reverse as the 2006 Proof Plat Eagle. Get em while you can...instant rarities in my book!!!
