You probably know the first coins struck for Israel were minted in 1948 durin its War of Independence. You probably know that first coin bears the denomination 25 Mils on its obverse.

You may even know that 25 Mils coin is made of aluninum.
You may know 42,500 pieces were produced for circulation.

    Do you know the following?

It is the only Israeli coin to bear the date of Israel's Independence (1948).
Those 42,500 coins were produced in less than two weeks.
Those 25 Mils Coins were minted in a garage.

Here's a photo of the obverse:

The same denomination was struck in uniface either in error or as a pattern. Some of these errors or patterns were mistakenly released into circulation.
