An Error Coin You May Not Know Exists - Episode 18: In the early years of English coinage when King Charles I reigned (1625-1626), a gold coin valued at 20 Florint (denominated as a Unite) was minted. Here's a photo of one (courtesy of Coin Archives): NOTE: The value (20 Florint) is determined by the following devices: 1. The 20 is denoted as XX in Roman Numerals and is located on the obverse to the right of George I's bust. 2. The Florint denomination is struck on the reverse in clockwise order, from about 1:00 to 4:00 o'clock, as FLORENT: http://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotviewer.php?LotID=980887&AucID=913&Lot=102&Val=71a069d7ccf59568a9b0feb9cef02058 Here is the error Unite. Just like the non error coin XX is placed behind King Charles I's bust on the obverse, but when you look at the denomination on the reverse you see the "O" is missing so the denomination is in error as it reads FLRENT: http://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotviewer.php?LotID=980885&AucID=913&Lot=100&Val=b0157e9fe41105fae32cb792e374d152 Hope you enjoyed seeing this error from the two years of King Charles I's monarchy.
