Here is a picture of a 1986 Tres Pesos note from Cuba that I picked up 2 weeks ago. The obverse has a picture of Ernesto (Che) Guevara. The revers shows a campesinos cutting sugar cane. On the revers top right it says (Che propulsor del trabajo voluntario). Roughly translated it means (Che the propeler of volunteer work). I'm thinking that the revers is actually showing Guevara working on the sugar cane field as he often did volunteer to work in the sugar cane fields. As a side note Guevara was in charge of the Nacional Bank of Cuba for about 10 months. I also found it interesting that the note says guaranteed in gold and convertible in gold.

Printed back in the days when Cuba could count on their socialists brethren for printing, these were printed by TSC in Prague Czechoslovakia. I am not sure who prints the current Cuban notes, they changed the design to a much plainer one, and they have a much cheaper printing look to them.

I wonder if Ernesto "Che" Guevara ever got Cuban citizenship, during his lifetime anyway? He was born in Argentina, and even factors in the movie Evita as he started his socialists programmes in Peron's era.

RickieB, thank you very much for taking a look and your comment!!!

scottish, Guevara was made an honorary Cuban citizen after the revolution. In 1965 he quite all his posts in the Cuban government and also his Cuban citizenship.

lettow, I can't belive Guevara signed the note with his nickname. That's like the treasurer of the United States signing our notes "buba" if that was his nickname. Interesting.
