Ok. Unslabbed from a local dealer who will guarantee the authenticity. XF, no problems for $220. 1) Concerns about it being a fake? 2) is it a good deal? Thanks.
Not sure on the value of this coin but I agree with bkozak. While its wear is minimal it looks like someone took a brillo pad this this otherwise beautiful specimen. That really hurts the grade and value... I would buy it for less then what an XF is worth. However, im not an expert and it might grade higher if it were for the cleaning.
It looks real but it wouldn't pass any TPG due to improper cleaning. Here is a decent one on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/1877-1-Trade-Dollar-PCGS-VF25-No-Reserve-/161196837616?hash=item2588148af0 It's not my listing but it would be well worth it to buy a certified one.
If you're looking to just buy a real one that looks nice, check ebay for ones with chop marks that are graded. You can find those for roughly >$200 and the chop marks give it some history.....

No worries, that happens... sometimes pictures reveal hairlines and marks we don't spot with the naked eye!
I disagree. IMO all those lines you're seeing in the fields are from die polishing. I don't see the lines crossing over the devices although the design is busy enough that I'd need a closer look. But more importantly the lines run right up to the devices. Abrasive cleaning generally leaves an untouched "halo" around the devices.
We may have to agree to disagree. I believe there are hairlines across the scroll on the reverse, into Ms. Liberty's neck and down her right arm.
Very harshly cleaned but genuine I'd stay away I just sent my 2 raw ones off to getgraded as it'll be an easier sell
Tortured. Not only cleaned, but done with an abrasive. Why don't you get a nice coin in a slab? We keep telling you to do that, from a reputable dealer.
