I just recieved 3 $5.00 bills i won the dispction said they were star notes they werent they were just the new $5.00 bills but all paid was $15.50 Just Though i would everyone heads up on this
Not sure what a "dispction" is but I suspect what the seller was describing as "star notes" was the new stars that were added to the obverse of the note for counterfeit deterrence.
Got a link to the auction? If those bills you got are real, I guess you're just out the fifty cents and whatever you paid for shipping. Probably not even worth it to return them.
You can argue fraud I suppose but you got $15 face value in bills for $15.50 so really you were only defrauded by 50 cents... probably not worth the effort to fight over it... the term "star note" is pretty much universally known amongst currency collectors to mean those with a star in the serial number, indicating a replacement note, so I wouldn't accept an innocent claim of ignorance there. (Even if he honestly didn't know that's what the term meant, that's not really a legitmite excuse, as it's his resposbility to not make false claims about what he's selling!) You may just want to avoid buying anything from that person in the future and I'd leave them a negative if I were you but other than that it's probably not worth pursuing the matter any further. If he's willing to accept the notes back and give you a refund though I'd be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and drop the matter at that point (though I'd be wary of buying from that seller again; and if you do buy from that seller again and he pulls the same kind of thing his "benefit of the doubt" has expired!)
Welcome to CT. You'll learn a lot here. Looking at the serial numbers, do you really think these are real U.S. Gov't notes? All ZEROES would be a currency collectors dream. I'd neg the seller if he won't refund your purchase price + S+H. (this was an obvious fraudulent attempt to cheat & deceive.) Bruce
Uhhhh, Bruce. I don't know how to tell you this but . . . If you look closely you will notice: The note in the image is not the note purchased by the OP. I posted the image to point out the stars the seller may have been referring to. The note I posted is labeled 'SPECIMEN' multiple times in letters larger than the serial number. Bruce
a lesson, and a cheap one! i sucks to be burned, but you learned a lesson, and learned of a seller to stay clear from. can you post a link to the auction? so we can all stay away from that seller?
