Could someone teach me about toning, how does it affect the value of a coin? I have a 1976 bicentennial half with a dark dark purple spot around the top of the building on the reverse. I cant post a picture now but the spot is about 1cm by 4cm and if I were to sell it, how much of a premium could I sell it for. Ill post picture later. Thanks

There is no set price for toning. Some toning will result in a premium, but other toning can actually cause the value to go down.

It all boils down to eye appeal. I doubt one small area with one color, on the "non money side" (reverse) will bring a premium..

On the other hand ... rap proves that musicians can be tone deaf :)
