I have 30 years worth of proof sets and I have noticed that the earlier years have some toning on some of the coins. I have kept them in fireproof boxes. Is this normal? I am concerned that the value may be affected.
Toning is normally good, unless it is ugly (takes away from eye appeal) If you post some pictures we could let you know which you have!
I would like to see photos of your toned proof coins. Several collectors like attractive toning on proof coins. Here is one of mine from a 1958 dated proof set.
This Great Britian proof coin has attractive toning. I think the seated half's toning is also very nice.
These threads in the coin chat forum sure move down the list quickly. Here is a fair photo of a really nice proof set.
